Benefit for Jeanette Ferrell

Jeanette Ferrell and her three and one year old sons were the benefactors of a fundraiser sponsored by Bow Tie Tavern Saturday. Jeanette is an employee of the Bow Tie and recently suffered multiple tragedies. The Tavern had games, music, prize raffles and a food buffet. Displayed on the parking lot were vintage motorcycles, hosted by the Road Weasels Indian Motorcycle Club. Also on hand was an antique fire truck.

The Bow Tie Tavern has been a part of Alpine Township for about three fourth of a century. It was established in 1929 and before it was called the Bow Tie Tavern, it was known under several other names, including the Blue Tavern. The Tavern is located on the corner of Old Alpine Ave. and 10 Mile Rd.

Mary, the owner, is planning another fund raiser for Saturday, August 29th, 2009, this time the 12th annual Motorcycle Poker Run to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Cost will be $15 a person or $25 per couple, which includes dinner, with Mary picking up all the expenses so that 100% of the donations will go directly to MS. While the fun starts at about 11:00 a.m., for an additional $6 Mary will cook you breakfast at 10:00 a.m. with all proceeds going towards the run. For more information, please contact Kim at 616-550-1777.
