American Legion Post 47 Sponsors Comstock Park Student at Girls State Program

Alpine Township Officials received a special visit Monday from Comstock Park High School Junior Alyssa Chartier.  Alyssa was selected to represent Comstock Park at the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program being held at Michigan State University in Lansing next week.

American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a government simulation program for girls who have completed  their junior year of high school. The objective is to provide “hands on” training in city, county, and state government.  As a citizen, Alyssa will participate in a variety of activities.  All levels of government (executive, legislative and judicial) are explored.

The purpose of Girls Sate is to broaden participants understanding of our government and how it works; to learn the importance of their role as a citizen; and to give them the opportunity to participate in a program widely recognized by colleges and universities.

Alyssa was sponsored by the American Legion Post #47 in Comstock Park.  After meeting with Township officials, Alyssa has a clearer understanding of Township government, particularly in her own Alpine Township community.  We feel honored to have Alyssa represent us and wish her the best at the Girls State program and her senior year.
