No Place to Play

Baseball teams from as far away as Grosse Ile Township, 150 miles away, came to Grand Rapids to play in a tournament, and were disappointed to find their playing fields under water.  A few phone calls and all teams transferred to the Alpine Township Sports facility where the fields were in excellent shape waiting for the unexpected guests.  Even the weather cooperated most of the afternoon despite threats of more rain.  The tournament had been scheduled by teams in the Grand Rapids Area Baseball League, which utilizes our fields weekdays.

Some, like this team from Grosse Ile, travelled over 150 miles to participate in the tournament

Others, like this team from Sparta, came from near by.
