Alpine Township Hosts 12th Annual Silent Night Parade


The public is invited to the twelfth Annual Silent Night Parade on the evening of Thursday, October 11. This is the third year that Alpine Township will host this historic event for the many area fire departments.

The Memorial Service is a means of remembering our past, departed firefighters. It is a dedication service to the thousands of firefighters who serve throughout the United States. It will take place at 7:00 pm at the west side of the Alpine Township Center, or indoors in the event of inclement weather.  The Township Center is located at Six Mile and Alpine.

The Silent Night Parade of fire apparatus will begin at 7:30pm. The parade of over 30 vehicles will process throughout the Westgate area and end in the Fifth Third Ball Park Parking lot where the apparatus will be on review.  While emergency lights will be turned on, no sirens or airhorns are activated making it truly a silent parade.
 
The event is part of National Fire Prevention Week which runs from October 7- 13 2012.  Its theme, “It’s Fire Prevention Week. Have Two Ways Out is a safety message urging planning and preparation for fire emergencies.
