Michigan Apples book launch this Sunday  Sharon (M) Kegerreis

Apple trees are blossoming in Michigan

Apple trees are blossoming in Michigan

I am excited to present my book talk in Alpine Township on Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Center, 2015 7 Mile Rd. NW. It is my first official book signing for my new book, Michigan Apples. Trees are blossoming and the Alpine Township region — coined the “Fruit Ridge” — is where 65 to 70 percent of all Michigan apples grow. Crazy, eh? Until you visit, it’s difficult to imagine miles of rolling apple orchards in a 20 mile by 8 mile radius, just north of Grand Rapids.

History buffs and apple and cider enthusiasts: join me this Sunday for insight into how apples first arrived in Michigan — long before Johnny Appleseed’s plantings in the Ohio Valley. Learn about Detroit’s 1700s orchards, the 1840 Log Cabin and Hard Cider campaign and other intriguing apple anecdotes.

By the way, there will be antique tractors on display as well!
