Members of the Comstock Park Community Outreach organization held it's monthly meeting Tuesday at the Little Pine Island Camp, located at 6889 Pine Island Drive in Plainfield Township. The camp is owned by the Salvation Army and has been operating since 1926. In addition to running running their own programs, the Salvation Army welcomes groups of all types to lease their facility, which is ideal for team building and other family and corporate outings.
Guest speaker at the meeting was Casey Gordon,Kent Intermediate School District Special Populations Consultants. Amongst some of the items of discussion were holiday help, and offering after the holidays informational programs for low income families. The Comstock Park Community Outreach is a collaboration of business, government, schools, churches and service organizations with a mission of matching community needs to available resources, and a purpose of empowering people to improve the quality of lives. It currently has 47 members.
