Employees of Commercial Tool and Die were recognized today for their excellent safety record and for their training and implementation of training programs in a trade that is known for its high accident rate.
The Michigan Occupational Health and Safety Administration (MIOSHA) was on hand to present the MSHARP Award to Company President Todd Finley, Safety Officer Don Brecken, the Safety Committee, and all the employees for creating a safety culture that already has proved its value by a reduction in serious accidents. Also on hand were Senator Mark Jansen, Alpine Township Supervisor Alex Arends, Alpine Township Treasurer Jim Townsend, and representatives of the organization's insurance company. Commerical Tool and Die is only the 27th recipient of this prestigious award in the entire state and the first one in the greater Grand Rapids area. Its safety record over the past year is nearly unblemished.
After picnic lunch, some of the guests were treated to a tour of the plant that featured some new equipment. Alpine Township is very proud of Commercial Tool and Die, all the employees, their safety record and the recognition they received.
