From the cover of Harper's Weekly to the cover of Time Magazine and now on the pages of Alpine Township Blog, Mark Twain continues to entertain people with his wisdom and wit. This Sunday he visited the Alpine Township Community Room upon the invitation of the Historical Committee. Sharing words of wisdom, Mr. Twain also shared stories about his life, his childhood, his loss of family, and some of his travels. Mark Twain was the pen name of author Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He was best known for his novels, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and its sequel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". He was known not only as a writer but also as a great public speaker, and he counted presidents, foreign leaders and industrialists amongst his friends.
Portraying Mark Twain was Cliff Helms. Cliff is a local historian who can be seen at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay some Thursdays sharing the same wisdom he shared with local history buffs today.
