Despite some heave rain showers, neighbors came out in force to celebrate the improvements to Westgate Neighborhood Park. With warm temperatures, the rain actually helped cool down the body temperature and once wet, nobody seemed bothered by the weather.
Everybody enjoyed the free ice cream and the little ones enjoyed a few of the games that were offered. A special thank you to members of the Grand Rapids Pickle Ball Association who travelled from all parts of Kent County to explain the game of pickle ball and offer a demonstration. Their willingness to travel to Alpine Township was very much appreciated. Our community policing officer Deputy Ryan Guernsey was on hand as were numerous members of the Alpine Township Fire Department and Alpine Township staff and officials. Special thanks to all who assisted in making this a special event.
