Grotto Park Restoration Project Worthy of ArtPrize

Phil Obetts
Perhaps the Comstock Park Rotary should have placed an official entry into the ArtPrize 2012 competition. The fine work of  the painted bridges at Grotto Park is worth viewing.  It was not done as part of ArtPrize, but as part of the continuing Comstock Park Rotary restoration project to the park which is there for the enjoyment of the residents of the Michigan Veteran's Home, located at 3000 Monroe Ave. NE.  Special thanks to Rotarian Phil Obetts and Alpine Township Resident Dan Matthews for sharing their time and talent, and to Fritz Wahlfield Jr. for providing and placing the scaffolding in the stream.
If you are downtown looking at all the entries for ArtPrize, take a few moments to drive by the Veteran's Facility in appreciation of not only the park, but the veterans who call it home.

  1. The bridges are even more beautiful with the wonderful paint job by Phil Obetts and Dan Matthews. Thank you to both of them and to Fritz Wahlfield, Jr. for assisting them with scaffolding. Thank you also to Comstock Park Rotary for its' committment to keep up Grotto Park.
